Astures and Romans

The last weekend of July, this year 2018 will be between 26 and 29 July, Astorga celebrates every year the days when this town was the Roman city Astúrica Augusta, with the Feast of Astures and Romans.

A return to the past, careful and enthusiastic, which has been nationally recognized with the inclusion in the “Spanish Association of Festivals and historic recreations”. Such is the success that there are more than 30,000 people who congregate in Astorga to enjoy outdoor dining with typical Roman dishes, circus where astures and Romans face in struggles and sports, a route through the taverns and walk through the Roman market, and a visit to both opposing camps.

The event has already started on July 22 with a “Munira of gladiators” in the “Plaza Mayor” of Astorga, workshops and conferences from July 23 to 29, continues on Thursday 27, Friday 28 and Saturday 29 with the Astur-Roman market (in the “Plaza de Santocildes”) and major events will be the weekend (Friday 27, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29).
